If you work with children and young people in a local community group or organisation you need to make sure that you have the following things in place for staff and volunteers:
- Child Protection training
- CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks
- Policies and Procedures
What you told us you needed – The Safeguarding Survey
In a recent survey of groups in the community and voluntary sector in Brighton and Hove people told us that they needed the following help with child protection and safety issues; Free or low cost child protection training that was easily accessible; help with knowing where to go for support and a local organisation who could act as a one stop shop for children’s safety issues.
Safety Net CRB Checking Service
Safety Net is a registered Umbrella body for Criminal Records Bureau Checks. We can also give groups advice about how to deal with checks and safe recruitment. Find out more »
The Local Safeguarding Children’s Board
Every area is required by law to have a Local Safeguarding Children’s Board which brings together lots of different services and organisations in an area to make sure that they are working effectively to keep children safe. Safety Net’s Director, Terri Fletcher, is the elected representative for the community and voluntary sector on the Local Children’s Safeguarding Board (LSCB).
