The Protective Behaviours Network meets termly and aims to bring together people who have completed the 2 day training course and are using the process in their work. The Network enables people to share ideas and practice and we invite guest speakers along to talk about how they are using Protective Behaviours and complementary ideas in their practice.
Over the last year we have had guest speakers including Holly-Ann Martin, an inspiring speaker from Australia who talked about her Protective Behaviours work around child sexual abuse in remote aboriginal communities. Another guest was Dr Stephen Briers, a local clinical psychologist and broadcaster who talked to us about his book, ‘Superpowers for Parents’. The book stresses the importance of helping children to develop emotional literacy, assertiveness and problem solving skills as a way to help them to develop resilience and keep safe. In March 2013 we were lucky to hear from Sally Ann Hart, founder of the www.pbpeople.org.uk website.
