Triple P for professionals who work with parents
How do I refer a parent?
A list of groups running across the city can be found at http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/index.cfm?request=c1190474 If you feel parents need encouragement to attend, please contact us as we are happy to explain the course to parents and answer their questions. Some parents are subject to an order to attend a parenting course and if this is the case, please refer to us (Safety Net on 01273 411613) or the course facilitators directly. In these cases, it is useful to work with other professionals to support parents.
Are there any parents that a Triple P course is not suitable for?
Triple P courses are suitable for parents who have direct (even if limited) contact with their children. The course includes practising strategies with your children, so if parents do not have contact, it will not be suitable for them. Aside from this, we aim to welcome all parents to groups and are mindful to work in an inclusive way. There are specific groups run to meet different parenting needs, for example groups for Somali women (with translators), or young dads, or for parents of children with special needs (contact Amaze) Please ask for more details if relevant. Please note that if parents do not presently have contact but wish to gain parenting skills, our seminars are open access and all are welcome.
What evidence is there that Triple P works?
How do I find out when and where courses are run?
All details of upcoming courses are held on the Brighton and Hove City Council website. Please contact the course facilitators directly.
