Supporting children at Somerhill Juniors

First of all, thank you all for your enduring support through the school year, but in particular throughout ANTI BULLYING WEEK 2014.

From the outset, the planning that you have put together has been up to date and appropriate to the needs of our school.

SafetyNet have consistently given us so much support in delivering programs for our pupils that build their confidence and resilience for moving on through the school years.

I know that the teachers across all years see the values in the work you do with us and hugely appreciate the input and support.  I know I certainly do!  Thanks Team Safety Net!

Supporting the “Children Can Do” programme

“Safety Net have provided very valuable additional help and support to some of the fledgling community groups supported by the Children Can Do programme. Newly established groups have particularly benefited from the intensive support Safety Net have provided around processing of DBS checks and accessing child protection training. Safety Net staff have helped community groups to grasp the basics of what is needed to help keep young people in their care safe… and always in a friendly and welcoming way. Well done to all at Safety Net.”

“Just wanted to thank you for you time last Wednesday evening and for giving a really informative and helpful sessional our Job Support Network. Several participants expressed how useful it had been to have these issues clarified and it has triggered some to take action to get their I.D paperwork together.”

Let’s Protect Programme

“We’d really recommend it for other groups as it’s been great working with Lynne checking our policies, procedures and practice. It’s rare you get an opportunity for someone outside the organisation to review your working practice plus you get the wealth of experience that comes from working with someone supporting so many others. Doesn’t harm that it looks great on funding bids as well!”

“The work done by children in this project should inspire everyone, including local politicians, to work for communities where all young people are safe and respected, where they can be whoever they want to be and become whatever they want to be.”

Deputy Leader of the Labour and Cooperative Group

“I am sorry I am unable to visit you personally at the present time however I wanted to write to let you know how impressed I am with the work you are undertaking to combat bullying and help create a safe, enjoyable atmosphere for your fellow pupils. Bullying should not be tolerated under any circumstances, it makes life miserable for the individual on the receiving end and the perpetrator is left with a feeling of authority which is undeserved and unwarranted. By being aware of the problems which bullying causes you can help make your school a safer and happier place for all pupils to attend.”

Simon Kirby, Conservative MP
Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven

“The safety of our children is the number one priority for families and communities across Brighton & Hove. Safety Net’s work to improve children’s lives, helping to reduce bullying and supporting families and those who work with children is a vital service for our City”.

Councillor Andrew Wealls
Conservative Member for Central Hove

Praise for our Anti-Bullying Work

“Bullying is a horrible experience for many children at school and this anti-bullying event is to be congratulated for highlighting the problem and involving so many young people.  The work done by these young people to keep other children safe at school is really impressive and they deserve our appreciation and thanks”.
